Privacy Policy

This policy applies to: the Welvo waitlist website at welvo.app — the marketing site you are currently visiting.
A note before you read this
You are looking at the waitlist version of Welvo. The product is not yet live. Right now, the only thing you can do here is share your email so we can tell you when Welvo opens.
This policy reflects that limited scope. It covers what we do with your email and nothing else. When Welvo's full product launches — the one that connects to your bank — we will publish a separate, much more detailed policy covering bank data, decision-engine processing, and your rights under the DPDP Act 2023.
We mention this because we believe in being clear about what's covered and what isn't. Vague catch-all policies are a red flag in fintech.
1. Who we are
Welvo is a product being built by an independent founder in India. We are not yet incorporated as a company at the time of this policy. When Welvo launches commercially, we will update this policy with our registered company name, address, and DPO contact.

2. What information we collect
On this website, we collect:
- Your email address — only when you voluntarily submit it through the waitlist form on welvo.app. We do not collect names, phone numbers, financial details, identity proofs, or any other personal information through this site.
- Basic analytics about your visit — pages you viewed, approximate location (city-level), device type, browser, and how you arrived at our site. This is collected via PostHog (see Section 5). We do not link this analytics data to your email address.
- Error reports — if something breaks on the site, our error monitoring tool (Sentry) records what went wrong. This data is technical (e.g., "the button at /pricing failed to load") and does not contain personal information.
That's it. We do not collect anything else.
3. What we don't collect (and won't, on this site)
- Your bank account information
- Your credit card or debit card details
- Your identity documents (PAN, Aadhaar, passport, etc.)
- Your income, expenses, transactions, or net worth
- Your financial goals or preferences
- Your contacts, calendar, photos, or device data
- Anything beyond what's listed in Section 2
If Welvo's live product ever asks for any of this, that data collection will be governed by a separate, comprehensive privacy policy you will be asked to read and accept before any data is shared.
4. Why we collect your email
We collect your email for exactly one purpose: to send you a notification when Welvo's product opens for early access.
We will not:
- Send you a newsletter
- Send you promotional emails about other products
- Send you marketing material about features unrelated to launch
- Share your email with affiliated companies or partners
- Sell your email to third parties under any circumstance
You may receive a maximum of two emails from us between signup and launch:
- A confirmation email when you join the waitlist
- A launch notification when Welvo opens
If we ever want to send you anything beyond these two emails, we will ask for your explicit consent first.
5. Third-party services we use
We use a small number of external services to operate this website. Each one processes limited data on our behalf:
- Resend (USA) — stores your email address and sends the welcome and launch emails. Resend acts as our email-sending processor. Resend's privacy policy.
- Vercel (USA) — hosts this website. When you visit welvo.app, your browser connects to Vercel servers. Vercel sees standard request information (IP address, browser, page requested) but we do not store or use this information beyond what's needed to serve the site. Vercel's privacy policy.
- PostHog (USA / EU) — provides analytics about anonymous site usage. We do not use PostHog to track individuals across sessions or link analytics to your email. PostHog's privacy policy.
- Sentry (USA) — receives error reports when our code fails. These reports contain technical information, not personal information. Sentry's privacy policy.
We do not use any other third-party services on this website. Specifically: no Facebook Pixel, no Google Ads tracking, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no advertising networks of any kind.
6. Where your data is stored
Your email is stored in Resend's infrastructure, which operates in the United States. By submitting your email, you consent to this transfer.
Analytics data is stored by PostHog in the EU (we use their EU region). Error data is stored by Sentry in the United States.
When Welvo's live product launches, we will move user data — including bank-related data — to Supabase's Mumbai (ap-south-1) region for Indian users, in line with RBI data localization expectations. The waitlist data will be migrated at that time and you will be notified.
7. How long we keep your data
Your email — we keep your email until either:
- We send you the launch notification and you do not sign up within 90 days after, OR
- You request deletion (see Section 8)
Whichever happens first. We are not interested in keeping inactive emails. They are a liability, not an asset.
Analytics data — anonymous analytics is retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
Error data — error reports are retained for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access — ask us what email address we have for you. We will tell you within 7 days.
- Correct — ask us to change your email if you submitted the wrong one.
- Delete — ask us to delete your email entirely. We will do this within 7 days and confirm by reply.
- Withdraw consent — tell us to stop processing your data. This has the same effect as deletion.
- Receive a copy — ask us to send you the data we hold about you. Since we only hold one piece of information (your email), this is straightforward.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@welvo.app from the address you signed up with. We do not require any forms or identification beyond the email itself.
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India), you also have the right to:
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf
- Approach the Data Protection Board of India if you believe your rights have been violated
We will publish a more detailed grievance mechanism when the product launches.
9. Security
We take security seriously, even for a single-email waitlist.
- All connections to welvo.app use HTTPS (TLS 1.3)
- Your email is stored encrypted at rest by Resend
- We do not store your email in any spreadsheet, CRM, or marketing tool outside Resend
- We do not export waitlist data to local drives or personal accounts
- No member of the public has access to the email list
If we ever experience a data breach that exposes your information, we will notify you within 72 hours by email and publicly disclose the breach on welvo.app, in line with DPDP Act 2023 requirements.
10. Cookies and tracking
This website uses minimal cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies — these allow the site to function (e.g., remembering you closed a banner). No consent banner is needed for these under Indian and EU regulations.
- Analytics cookies — PostHog sets a cookie to count unique visitors. This cookie does not contain personal information and cannot identify you.
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or any cookies for marketing purposes.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting your ability to join the waitlist.
11. Children's privacy
This website is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you are under 18 and have submitted your email, please ask a parent or guardian to email hello@welvo.app and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be notified to anyone on the waitlist via email at least 7 days before they take effect.
The current version is always available at welvo.app/privacy. This is version 1.0 — the first published version of this policy.

A final note about the future
When Welvo's live product launches, this policy will be replaced with a comprehensive one covering:
- Bank account data accessed through Setu (RBI Account Aggregator)
- AI decision-engine processing of your financial data
- Sub-processors including Anthropic (Claude API), Supabase (database), and Dodo Payments
- Detailed retention schedules per data category
- Cross-border data transfer mechanisms
- Specific rights under the DPDP Act 2023, GDPR (for UK/EU users), and other applicable laws
- A formal grievance redressal mechanism with named officers
That policy will be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before publication. This waitlist policy is intentionally narrow in scope because the data we collect today is narrow in scope.
We will not surprise you. When the rules change, we will tell you, and you will have the option to walk away with your data intact.
